The history of this light bulb is filled with competition, failures, and outstanding accomplishments. This electric light bulb has been named the most valuable invention since man-made fire. This light bulb served to sustain cultural order after sundown, extended the day well into the darkness, and allowed us to navigate and go safely in the night. Without this fluorescent bulb, there could be no nightlife. However, making a stable and cheap source of light was not as simple as some history textbooks indicate. This contemporary light bulb is the result of numerous innovators' businesses and constant improvements over 150 years.
